FSU's First Exhibition Game: A Competitive Showdown
The Florida State Seminoles faced off against the No. 15 Alabama Crimson Tide in an exhibition game at Boutwell Auditorium, marking Luke Loucks' head coaching debut. The game was a thrilling display of competitive spirit, with 14 lead changes and 10 ties throughout. Despite FSU's valiant effort, they fell short by a narrow margin, losing 109-105.
The Seminoles showed their depth with five players scoring double digits. Robert McCray V led the way with 26 points, Chauncey Wiggins contributed 16, Lajae Jones added 15, Kobe MaGee scored 14, and Cam Miles finished with 10. The FSU bench also made a significant impact, totaling 28 points, with Miles leading the charge.
FSU's shooting statistics were impressive, making 32 out of 79 field goal attempts (40.5%), including 14 out of 43 from beyond the arc (32.6%). They also demonstrated their accuracy at the free-throw line, going 27 for 39 (69.2%).
The Seminoles dominated the boards, securing a 46-41 rebounding advantage, including 23 offensive boards that resulted in 24 second-chance points. They also showcased their ball-handling skills with 15 assists, thanks to contributions from McCray, Wiggins, and Jones, while committing only 11 turnovers.
FSU's defense was relentless, generating 16 points off of Alabama's 15 turnovers. They also had nine steals and two blocks, both recorded by Shah Muhammad.
Labaron Philon led the Crimson Tide with 28 points, showcasing their offensive prowess. Alabama's shooting statistics were impressive as well, making 31 out of 62 field goal attempts (50.0%), including 12 out of 34 from deep (35.3%), and 35 out of 49 from the free-throw line (71.4%).
